Green opens this Saturday!

April come she will (this year with a side order of April Fool) and, with her, thoughts turn to the long and keenly awaited opening for the summer season of our Vigo Park bowling green - which, this year, will take place on Saturday 11 April at 2pm. (Thoughts of September can leave the scene.)

That's this coming Saturday, folks!

Ahead of times, there will be the usual preparation party of cleaning everything, sweeping the leaves out of the shelters, relocating the spiders to their summer homes and putting the benches out around the green. This will take place from 0930 on Saturday morning, so do put on your old clothes and come down and give us a hand: there are jobs for everyone and a warm welcome will await you.

You can see on the home page of this site the current iteration of the fixture list - the first of which will be on 29 April in the Whitchurch and District league - but there will be Club Nights before then and plenty of opportunities for friendlies and roll-ups to get your hand and eye in, and yourself match sharp. The home page also features the link to bowlr where, once you're logged in, you can book your rink.

It's not been a long winter - apart from January and February when the rain was endless - but it's an ill wind that blows no-one any good and that, on top of this week's sunshine, should see the green, lovingly maintained by our volunteer team, in sparkling condition.
