Friendlies
In addition to our teams, the Club also plays friendly matches (both home and away) with a selection of other bowling clubs largely from the wider area: matches are fixed well in advance and calls for participation extend right across the Club, with sign-up available in the Clubhouse.
Bowlers of all abilities and experience are welcome to play in the friendlies; and joining in is a good way for new bowlers to taste match competition in a relaxed, friendly (it does what it says on the tin!) and relatively non-competitive environment.
The friendlies that have been arranged for 2026 are as follows (all matches take place on Sundays):
10 May 2.00: Andover v Hungerford
24 May 2.00: Thatcham 67 v 107 Andover (6 triples)
Tony Guy reports: The temperature during the match was an extreme 30 degrees and, due to this, the game was reduced by three ends. Andover took five new bowlers with them. It was a competitive match and Thatcham are a strong side; however, Andover prevailed in a comprehensive victory, winning four of the six rinks. Our highest scoring rink was Jeff North, Linda Sturt and Dave Bradbury.
14 Jun 2.00: Andover v Kintbury (4 triples)
26 Jul 2.30: Andover v St. Mary Bourne v Andover (6 mixed triples)
16 Aug 2.00 Devizes 87 v 93 Andover (6 mixed triples): Tony Guy's rink had the highest shots
13 Sep 2.00 Andover v Parkside (TBC; 4 mixed rinks)
Sheets for the friendlies on this list go up in the Clubhouse, so do keep a watch out and add your name if you can play.
In addition, there are some county friendlies taking place at Andover, as follows:
2 May 2.00 Hants v Berkshire (6 rinks; men only)
1 Sep 2.00 Hants v Gloucestershire (6 rinks; women only)
