A great result was had yesterday in the Moreton Cup semi-final, when Andover Lions triumphed 32-29 over Eastleigh Red Devils. This puts Lions into the final where they will play Oakley, who beat Cove (who won the title in 2025) also yesterday.

This competition has been running since 1981, but no Andover side has ever won it, Lions being fourth in 2016 and Eagles third in 2024 representing the closest we have come. An appearance in the final, which will be played on 29 March, is therefore great for the Club and also for its finances as there is prize money on offer.

The Moreton Cup is the annual indoors bowling competition played at Longmeadow IBC, Whitchurch, and this year featured 14 other sides in addition to Lions and Eagles (originally 15, but one club withdrew early on). Eagles exited at the group stage but Lions - who finished second in their group - have won both their games in the knockout stage. The side who topped Lions in the group stage? Oakley. Juicy!
