Stan Hardman League

This league was set up in the 1980s for bowlers who had retired and who were finding it difficult to get places on teams playing in the evenings. The retirement restriction is no longer in place, but games do still take place on an afternoon (Thursdays).

Matches consist of mixed triples and each takes place on three rinks. Each rink must have at least one woman and one man playing for each team.

The league currently consists of 32 teams equally divided into four groups established on a broadly geographical basis. Andover plays in Area 4, with clubs largely from the north and west of the area from Aldermaston down to Whitchurch; and Andover across to Oakley and Basingstoke.

The top two teams in each area qualify for the knock-out stage for the Shield; with the third and fourth placed teams qualifying for the knock-out stage for the Plate.

The full rules can be found here.

Our Stan Hardman team is captained by Jo Brambley.
