On Sunday (17 November), Andover played our first game in this year’s Hamblin Trophy – a trophy we won in 2024. This is an indoors competition in which all matches take place at Riverside, Winchester, against a series of opponents firstly in a group stage and then with the top teams in each group battling it out for the final in March.

Each fixture sees two sets of four players from Andover competing as a team against two sets of four players from the opponents, on this oocasion Waterside of Holbury, located adjacent to the New Forest south of Southampton. Both our sets of players enjoyed good wins – Les Reeves, Cynthia Hamilton, Robin Kingston and Peter Anthony won 22-16; and Jackie Kingston, Gordon Bazley, Sue Milton and Lesley Taylor won 27-9.

A very solid and encouraging start! The next fixture is against Lyndhurst on 1 December.
