History

We have a long and proud history at Andover Bowling Club: but what we are most proud of is our members and their bowling achievements, both within the Club and when they are representing us externally.

These pages document the history of the Club and contain links to the handbook produced in 2013 to mark the Club’s centenary. They also include a roll of honour documenting the winners of Club competitions, including those which have been discontinued, and of external leagues, as well as the progress achieved by our players in area and national competitions.

It is important to mark the successes of the winners; but we don’t forget that, for every winner, there is a runner-up; and, for every runner-up, there is someone who didn’t make it out of the group stage. Bowling is (sometimes more or sometimes less gently) competitive, but it should also be fun and, while it is right to praise those who turn out on top, we never forget to celebrate the achievements of those who also turned up.

In the meantime, we are determined to keep ourselves rolling forwards in our next century and are developing the plans that we hope will allow us to do so. So, watch this space!
