Andover Lions and Andover Eagles sit proudly at the top of their respective leagues in this year’s Moreton Cup competition - the annual indoor bowling competition organised at Longmeadow, Whitchurch.

Andover Lions were in action this last Sunday (1 December), thrashing Winchester-based Littleton 46-26, and now top Group 3 with 10 points and an overall shot difference of +63. Meanwhile, Andover Eagles, who last played on Sunday 24 November, sit at the top of Group 1 with seven points from their two fixtures so far and an overall shot difference of +10.

You can catch up with the full results, and the remaining fixtures, over on the indoors cups page of this site.

Neither Eagles nor Lions now play another fixture until 2025, with Eagles’ final game in the group stage, against Oakley, taking place on 12 January, while Lions take on Kingsclere, currently in second place in Group 1, in their final group fixture on 19 January.

Lions are now certain to qualify for the quarter finals but Eagles, while extremely well-placed, need to await the outcomes of the remaining rounds of fixtures. Should they qualify for that stage, both teams would avoid each other – but, depending on the final results of all fixtures, an all-Andover semi-final is possible.
